In ancient Egyptian mythology, Horus was the god of healing and protection. His rival Set, the god of storms and violence, destroyed one of his eyes. The eye was subsequently healed and returned to Horus with the help of other deities. Horus then offered the eye to his deceased father Osiris, and its healing power sustained Osiris in the afterlife.
